The perfect start to the day open at 9am -10am for a free breakfast time to talk and get that early morning start in dealing with housing, chasing up benefits, job hunting or a pit stop before college.
There is always a willing member of staff or volunteer to help you make phone calls, fill out forms or just talk out any problems.
My Yard is all about getting and keeping a roof over your head. We will help you find a place, look for the deposit and month's rent in advance, and then help you keep the place; looking at your budgeting skills, cooking, cleaning and bill-paying, making sure you can cope with the tough tasks.
Our fantastic 12 week programme funded by Big Lottery Fund. Over the last three years, the SkillXtrax programme saw 108 young people take part in a host of community projects, residential outward-bound projects, bushcraft skills and personal development sessions - helping them really get ready for all life's challenges.
Our Embrace project, funded by Comic Relief, looks to engage and recruit volunteers from Hastings' rich communities to ensure we reflect the true diversity of the community in our staffing and services we offer.
The Big Daddy of the projects, the Xtrax Drop-In Centre is open to anyone aged 16-24. Located in Hastings Town Centre, it's open from 3-10pm Mon, Wed, Fri and 10-5 on Sundays. You can grab a meal for a £1, play pool or Xbox, and get some support on any issue from our staff and volunteers. No pressure..
Come in, relax, and feel at home.
After Breakfast Club comes the Job Club, so come in before the end of Breakfast (10am) and then grab a coffee and start that job search. The staff and volunteers are there to support you in looking for jobs - as well as filling out those application forms. We can help you develop your interview skills, and the all-important CV writing. it's relaxed and informal but all with the aim of finding that dream job.
Every Monday night the young people of Xtrax and volunteers - without fail - go out into the streets with the Xtrax Mobile Soup Kitchen to help support the homeless with fresh stew and soup kindly donated by BD foods.
Thursdays is Parents Pitstop day, our brilliant parents group, run in partnership with children centres. it's a relaxed group; with a free lunch for baby and parents, you can learn parenting skills, the staff are there to answer any questions about parenting, and the kids have a great time with games and singing. It's not like other stiff parent groups so you can relax as a young parent learning the ropes.
All of these amazing projects can only happen with a strong well funded Core Xtrax Drop-in Centre in which young people feel safe and ready to grow and learn.
A donation to Xtrax makes a huge diffrence to the lives of the young people who come to the service, but also to the wider community as they become strong, able and valued members of the community.
